With the interim period being extended for the Companies (Miscellaneous Provisions) (Covd-19) Act 2020 to 9 June 2021, am I correct in my understanding that this only provides for an extension to the various sections of the act other than the date AGM’s need to be held by?

The new interim period commencing on 1/1/2021 until 9/6/2021 under Section 4 of the Companies (Miscellaneous Provisions (Covid-19) Act has made amendments to the following sections of the Act;

· Sections 3 to 9;
· Section 11;
· Sections 13 to 16, and
· Sections 18 to 25.

In this case to Section 6 which is included as S.174A CA2014, which notes an AGM will be held on time if now held during the interim period (the new interim period from 1/1/2021 to 9/6/2021). However it is important to note that this extension does not apply to 2020 annual general meetings which should have been held by 31/12/2020. 2021 AGMs now have the breathing room to host their AGMs by virtual or partially virtual means if they wish up until 9/6/2021.
