Question:
I am registered as agent to file a number of clients Company returns under my own name, as in they were on my Watchlist. But I am not registered to sign B1 forms as electronic filing agent.
I have recently incorporated my practice. And want to register as Electronic filing agent for my clients, I will just sign B1s and upload, I will not be doing them via ROS signature.
So I was wondering do I just register under my own name using my existing customer account number, by filing the J1a and B77’s then for each client company?
Answer:
In order for the EFA to sign electronically on behalf of their clients, a ROS certificate is required. Its how the CRO link the user and verifies them.
You will firstly need to check with CRO that you don’t have an CRO ID number, usually if you have an account you have one. If you have this number you can continue and file the B77 per company you wish to file for.
If not, you need complete the Form J1A which can be downloaded from the CRO website and sent into them. You will need this before you file the B77. I would check however you don’t already have this number as its likely you have it if you have a CORE account. The name on the ROS certificate must match the name of the CRO Filing Agent (EFA).
To register for a ROS certificate, you need to register for a Digital Signing Certificate via the Revenue Commissioners ROS website. The link below is how to register with ROS: https://www.ros.ie/helpcentre/help.html#/?a=gettingStarted/getting-started
